Wesley King Van Kuren Sr., age 76, of Newton Falls passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 3, 1938, in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Edward King Van Kuren & Marion (Hill) Van Kuren. He graduated from Parker High School in Clarence, NY he also served in the US Army and earned an associate's degree from Erie County Technical Institute, now Erie Community College. Wesley married the love of his life, Marcia J. Kangas on February 9, 2007 and they enjoyed over 30 years of companionship together. Wesley had lived in Newton Falls since 1990 formerly of Clarence Center, NY, Rockport, MA, and Meriden, CT. Wesley was a civil engineer accomplished in the production of reinforced concrete pipe and precast concrete products. He was an avid gardener, golfer, outdoor sportsman, and talented "Jack of all Trades". He was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed fireside chats with friends and neighbors. Wesley was also a compassionate pet owner, he spent many hours later in life comforted by them. He attended the Messiah Lutheran Church in Newton Falls, and was a member of Niagara Lodge #375, Free & accepted Masons, NRA, and the Republican Party. Memories of Wesley will be carried on by his loving family; his wife, Marcia J. Van Kuren of Newton Falls; his stepson: Craig & Mandee Barratt, his sons :Wesley King Jr. & Etsuko Van Kuren, Peter Craig & Kay Van Kuren, John Benjamin Van Kuren, Eric James & Kathy Van Kuren, Elizabeth Ann & Alfonso Calandra; 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, special friends Jill Weekley, Linda Parrack, Roger & Judy Hood, Barbara Brown, Jim & Kathy Barnhart , his friends & neighbors and his four legged friend Zoey. Wesley is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Edward E. & Richard H. Van Kuren and his granddaughter Sarah Beth Van Kuren. Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00PM. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 4:00PM at the funeral home.
