Wilda Mae Layman, age 79 of Newton Falls. passed away peacefully into eternal life on Friday, June 2, 2017 at her residence. She was born on August 13, 1937 in Canoe Ridge, PA, the daughter of the late Boyd Ray & Sarah Henrietta (White) Gaston. Her aunt and uncle Wilda & Bill Bowers raised her since she was 1 year old. Wilda married the love of her life, John H. Layman Jr. on June 30, 1957, and they have enjoyed 60 years of blessed marriage together. Wilda enjoyed being a housewife and a laborer for Packard Electric before she retired in 1993. She was a member of the Newton Falls First Church of God for over 60 years, and enjoyed reading and crocheting. Memories of her will be carried on by her loving family; her husband John of Newton Falls; her son Edward & Kala Layman of Singapore; her sisters Jane & George Lowmaster of Montoursville, Pa, Rachel & Ron Hetrick of Punxsutawney, PA; and her brother David Gaston also of Punxsutawney, PA. Wilda is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Lawrence "Amos" Gaston, and 2 sisters June Kanouff & Kay Cressley. Per the wishes of Wilda, Private family services will be held, and cremation will follow.
