William O. McFarland, age 91 of Newton Falls entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles. On June 14, 1920 in Braceville, Fred & Doris (Hipple) McFarland were blessed with the birth of their son, William. He has lived in the Newton Falls/Braceville area his entire life. William married the former Thelma Irene Sinn on September 20, 1941. They have been blessed to have been married 69 wonderful years. William was an electrician by trade. He had been employed by Rockwell International, US Steel and retired from Packard Electric in 1988. He was a radar technician in the US Navy having served during WWII and Korea. William was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton Falls where he had served as a decon, trustee and helped look after the sound system and the boiler in the church. He was also a member of the American Legion, Newton Falls Post. William enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Loving memories of William will be carried on by his wife, Thelma I. McFarland of Newton Falls, his daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Pete Mallog of Newton Falls, grandchildren, Deanna & Brian Nussles of Newton Falls, Renee & Eric Lane of Stratford, NJ and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, George McFarland and his step-sister, Winifred Seifert. Per William's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 29, 2011 at 7:00 pm at the Frist Christian Church where calling hours will be held one hour prior from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Rev. Calvin Mason will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, OH.
