William James (Sam) McCartney Jr.  age 71 formerly of Newton Falls passed peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday Jan. 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 28, 1953, in San Miguel, CA  the son of William James McCartney Sr. & Alberta Marie (Beck) McCartney. Sam married the love of his life, Brenda L. McCartney on August 26, 1978 and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage together before she passed away on March 30, 2012. He worked as a diemaker for Harbison-Walker Refractories for 36 years before retiring. William was a member of the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War from 1972-1976.  He is preceded in death by his wife Brenda, his parents, 1 daughter Billi Jo McCartney and 2 sisters Nancy Gorby and Diane Mullenax.

Wonderful memories of Sam will be carried on by his loving family; daughter Lindsey (Mark) Brown of FL (with whom he resided); son Sam (Luciana) McCartney of OH; sister Cindy (Paul) Caputo of FL; brother Edward Headley of OH, life long friends Jerry Kiser and Terry Pyles of OH, and 5 grandchildren.

Private service will be held at a later date. Sam will be laid to rest at beside his wife at Newton Falls Cemetery.  The family has requested that all donations go to the Disabled American Veterans PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
