Rev. William Leonard Snowden, age 78 of Lake Milton passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1933 in Wellsville, OH the son of the late James R. Snowden and Vona (Ammon) Snowden. William was the founder and builder of the First Baptist Church of Rosemont. He has lived most of his life in Lake Milton. William was a US Navy veteran from 1952 - 1956 serving during the Korean War. He retired as an electrician from Copperweld Steel in 1989 after 38 years. William was a member of the Lake Milton Baptist Temple since 1963 and a member of the Hopedale Sportsman's Club in Hopedale, OH. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boats and preaching the word of god. Loving memories of William will be carried on by his daughters, Cynthia Snowden, Sandra Snowden, Erma (Joseph) Quimby all of Lake Milton, 1 son, William (Judy) Snowden of Berlin Center, two step-sons, David & Brian Schmied, his companion, Dorothy Rovder of Lake Milton, four sisters, Virginia (Jerry) Hardwick, Julie (Don) Clegg, Kathy (Denny) Calvin, Barb (Barry) Miller, two brothers, Gene (Shirley) Snowden, David (Pam) Snowden, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and the mother of his children, Ruth A. Thompson of Lake Milton. William was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek S. Quimby, step-mother, Antoinette Snowden, step-father, Cy Russell, three sisters and five brothers. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Lake Milton Baptist Temple 415 South Pricetown Rd. Diamond, OH 44412. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Lake Milton Baptist Temple with visitation two hours prior from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Pastor Aaron Dowler will be officiating the service. William will be laid to rest at Vaughn Cemetery in Lake Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family would like all donations to go to the Lake Milton Baptist Temple 415 South Pricetown Rd.
