Bernard R. Ocheltree

Bernard R. Ocheltree age 75 of Niles passed away suddenly due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident on Thursday Sept. 7, 2023 in Chattanooga, TN. He was born Nov. 11, 1947 in Cox Mills, WV the son of the late Bernard Jackson Ocheltree and Maple Pearl (Posey) Ocheltree. While high school, he was drafted into the US Army and served 3 tours in Vietnam from 1966- 1972. When he returned home, he married the love of his life the former Shirley Ann Mars on Dec 31, 1974, and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage together until her death on July 12, 2017. Bernard worked as a Truck Driver since 1972 up until the day he died. He currently worked for Tennessee Steel Haulers out of Nashville, TN for more than 20 years. He lived in Niles for the last 3 years, formerly of Lake Milton, OH. Bernard loving hunting, hanging out with his grandchildren, and driving his truck & being on the road. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, 2 sisters: Doris Britton, Rita Mace, and 1 brother: Doy Ocheltree.

Bernard is survived by: 1 son: Ray & Dana Ocheltree of Niles, 1 sister: June & Pat Farnsworth of Pennsboro, WV, 2 brothers: Charles Ocheltree of New Philadelphia, OH, Roy & Jaine Ocheltree of Buckhannon, WV, and 3 grandchildren: Aliyah, Cameron. and Murphy "Buddy".

Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday Sept. 16, 2023 at 1:00pm with Pastor Jeff Street officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Bernard will be laid to rest beside his wife Shirley at Peterson Cemetery in Weston, WV on Monday Sept. 18, 2023 at 1:00pm.
