Doris J. (Archer) Fowler, age 88, of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Monday July 10, 2023 at the Antonine Village Assisted Living in North Jackson, OH. She was born on May 22, 1935 in Warren, OH the daughter of the late Sherman Ellsworth Archer & Jessie Mildred (Stitzinger) Archer. Doris was a homemaker who has lived in Newton Falls most her life, graduating from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1953. Doris married the love of her life, Roland Dale Fowler on June 6, 1959, and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage together until he passed away on June 8, 2006. She had great faith in God and was a member of the former First Congregational Church and the First Christian Church where she was the Director of the Choir of both churches. She is a lifetime Deacon, having held many other positions within the churches. She and her husband Dale were the Director and Leaders of the Young Congregationalists. Doris loved art, she enjoyed painting in pastels and charcoal. She also enjoyed music and traveling, but the greatest joy was being with her family. She was also a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution, and member of the Happy Wanderers vocal group. She is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband R. Dale Fowler, 2 sisters: Mary Ellen Shaulis, Nancy Smith, and 1 brother: Robert A. Archer.
Doris is survived by 3 daughters: Judith & Mark Irwin of Westerville, OH, Jennifer & John Wilson of Monroe, MI, Dina & Michael Calhoun of Newton Falls, 5 grandchildren: Brittany & Mitchell Hirschfeld of Bellbrook, OH, Jerica & Thomas Stiver of Hillard, OH, Nicole & Joshua Bahny of Monroe, MI, Angela & Anthony Machado of Monroe, MI, Brandon & Culleen Calhoun of Great Falls, MT, 10 great grandchildren: Petra, Charis and Danica Hirschfeld of Bellbrook, OH, Tanner and Callen Stiver of Hilliard, OH, Garland Bahny of Monroe, MI, Greyson and Caleb Machado of Monroe, MI, Evelyn and Gabriel Calhoun of Great Falls, MT, her special friend, Robert "Jack" Reider of Warren.
Visitation will be at First Christian Church of Newton Falls, 17 North Center Street, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444, Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 11-1pm. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation with Rev. Jennifer Dorn officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Doris will be laid to rest beside her husband Roland "Dale" at Hawley Cemetery in Paris Twp, OH.
