Earl R.(Corky) Frank age 90 of Braceville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday Aug. 22, 2023 at his residence. He was born on Feb. 9, 1933 in Warren, OH the son of the late Earl George Frank and Hazel Irene (Failes) Frank. Earl has lived in Braceville for most of his life, and graduated from Braceville High School in the Class of 1951. He entered Kent State University and as attending his freshman year, world events led him to enlist in the US Coast Guard. Earl quickly married the love of his life the former Sue Anne Dewbeck on Oct.10, 1954 as he was assigned to the USCGC Courier W-410, stationed off the island of Rhodes Greece. Earl served his country as a RM2, Radioman transmitting the 'Voice of America" from the USCGC Courier. His new bride quickly joined Earl in Rhodes Greece beginning their 68 years together. During the next 2 years their family began. Earl temporarily moved his new wife for 6 weeks to Wheelus Air Force Base in Tripoli, Libya, ending with the birth of their first daughter, then returning to Greece for the remainder of Earls assignment. Upon returning home Dec 1956, on a Troop Transport Ship (The General Buckner), taking 22 days to leave the Mediterranean Sea and cross the Atlantic Ocean. Earl used his technical background in the Service Department at The Sears & Roebuck Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1995. He was a life- long member of the Braceville United Methodist Church, and a 60 year member of the Newton Falls Masonic Lodge #462 where he was a 32 degree Mason. Earl loved to go fishing especially with his son. Boating and camping were a part of their favorites as well. Earl and his wife traveled to 48 states and Canada in their motor home, staying many winter months in LaBelle, Florida. Earl loved his family and lived for them. In 1960 he built the first of two houses. As the family grew, he built the second house in 1970. He is preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister: Janice Lozier.
Earl is survived by: his wife: Sue A. Frank of Braceville, 3 daughters: Debra & William Fondoulis of Powell, OH, Patricia & Tony Hartman of Wellington, OH, Diane & Joseph Prelac of Stockbridge, GA, 1 son: Thomas & Brianne Frank of Salem, OH, 10 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday Sept 2, 2023 at 1:00pm with Chaplain Dan Yargo officiating. Calling hours will be from 12:00- 1:00pm. He will be laid to rest at Braceville Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice 6715 Tippecanoe Rd. Building E Suite 201 Canfield, OH 44406 in his memory.
