Edward E. Hammond age 79 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday night March 23, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital in Youngstown. He was born on Jan 23, 1944 in Warren, OH the son of the late Samuel E. Hammond and Elizabeth (Ritz) Hammond. Edward had lived in Newton Falls all of his life, and graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1962. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Vietnam War from 1962- 1966. He then married the love of his life, Gwendolyn L. Radford on Oct 4, 1966, and they have enjoyed the past 56 years of marriage together. Edward worked at General Motors Lordstown as a press operator for 30 years retiring in 2000. He was a long time member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, and the Amvets Post #112 in Newton Falls. Edward loved bowling, working out in the yard, and riding around in the car sightseeing. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother: William Hammond, and 1 sister: Edna Rufener.
Ed is survived by: his wife: Gwendolyn L. Hammond of Newton Falls, 2 sons: Richard E. Hammond of Fargo, ND, Scott & Shannon Hammond of Newton Falls, 1 brother: Robert & Betty Hammond of Salem, OH, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at the Messiah Lutheran Church 4920 Fairport Rd. Newton Falls, OH 44444 on Thursday March 30, 2023 at 11:00am.
