John Harry Layman Jr.

John Harry Layman, Jr. age 88 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal life on Monday Oct. 16, 2023 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.  He was born on August 15, 1935 in McClellandtown, PA the son of the late John Harry Layman Sr. & Bertha Rachel (Round) Layman. He married the love of his life, Wilda Mae Gaston on June 30, 1957, and they enjoyed 60 years of blessed marriage together until she passed away on February 2, 2017. John was the Head of Maintenance at Wean Manufacturing in Warren for 30 years retiring in 1984.  After his retirement, he owned and operated Layman Services where he was a general handyman, welder, and did maintenance & machine repair work.

John was a faithful member of the Newton Falls First Church of God for many years, where he was on the church board and taught Sunday School.  He also helped put in the heating system at the church.  John enjoyed hunting, working at the church, and taking wedding pictures.  John never knew a stranger, everyone was considered a friend to him. He is preceded in death by: his parents, his wife Wilda, and his 5 brothers & 11 sisters.

John is survived by:  his son Edward & Kala Layman of Oxnard, CA,  and 6 nieces: Brenda, Susan, Kim, Keri, Lori, Cheria.

Funeral services will be at the First Church of God in Newton Falls on Friday Oct. 20, 2023 at 1:00pm with Rev. Arnold Edmondson officiating.  Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Cremation will follow the service.  The family has requested that all donations please be made to the Newton Falls First Church of God 426 West Broad St. Newton Falls, OH 44444 in his memory.
