Mary C (Foor) O'Neal

Mary Catherine O'Neal 86 of Newton Falls, formerly of Braceville Township passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at 6:46 am at her home. She was born in Saxton, Pennsylvania on October 24, 1936, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Catherine (McElwain) Foor.

A lifetime area resident, Mary attended The First Baptist Church in Newton Falls, where she was an active member. She married her husband, the late John R. O'Neal on January 13, 1955. Together they shared 62 years of marriage until his passing on April 1, 2017. Mary was a homemaker, raising her seven children. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds; attending church, going shopping and going to dinner with her best friend Aldine Ross and other friends.

Mary is survived by her seven children; Cathy (John) Krause of Seguin, Texas, Patty Popielec of Warren, John (Patty) O'Neal of Newton Falls, Rhonda (Rick) Steigerwald of Columbus, Connie (Joe) Capan of Pickerington, Ohio, Mary (Dan) Lambert of Newton Falls and Bobbi (Timothy) Nodge of Southington; two sisters; Delores Swope and Patty Putt, both of Saxton Pennsylvania; a brother Jim (Ann) Foor of Huntington, Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, two grandchildren; Meghan and Chad; a sister Linda, a brother Larson and a son in law, John.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 19, 2023 at The First Baptist Church, 2640 South Canal Street, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444 with Rev. Steve Spurlock officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Braceville Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends for calling hours on Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2023 from 2:00-7:00 pm at the James Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hospice of the Valley. In lieu of flowers, material contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mary's memory.
