Shirley Jane Spier

Shirley Jane Spier age 88 formerly of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday Oct.11, 2023 at the Monarch Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center in Marysville, OH.  She was born on Oct. 9, 1935 in Grafton, WV the daughter of the late John F. Isner and Ollie G. (Shaffer) Isner.  Shirley has lived in Newton Falls for many years, formerly of Lake Milton where she graduated from Jackson Milton High School in the Class of 1953. She worked as a Bank Teller for Huntington Bank, Mahoning National Bank and Farmers National Bank for over 20 years.  Then she went to work as a High School Secretary at Jackson Milton High School for several years retiring in 1996.  Shirley married Ewalt Spier on Dec. 19, 1998 and they enjoyed nearly 24 years of marriage together until he passed away on Oct. 29, 2021.  She was a life member of the Pricetown Methodist Church, Life member of the Lake Milton American Legion Post #737 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society in Florida.  Shirley loved to play bingo, going to the casinos, doing crafts, and gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ewalt, 1 brother: Ed Isner, and 1 daughter: Debora Palmer.

Shirley is survived by: 1 daughter: Kathy & Robert Baeslack of Plain City, OH, 1 stepson: Mike Spier of Canfield, OH, 7 grandchildren: Kaela, Colin, Jamison, Kat, Heather, Meagan, Amanda, and 8 great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life service will be held at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday Oct 28, 2023 at 2:00pm.   Calling hours will be from 1:00- 2:00pm.  She will be laid to rest at Vaughn Cemetery in Lake Milton with her husband Walt.. The family has requested that all donations please be made to either the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929 or Ohio's Hospice Loving Care 779 London Ave. Marysville, OH 43040 in her memory.
