Thomas Clyde Dietz, Sr., age 79, of Lordstown passed away into eternal life on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Hospice House of Poland of natural causes.
On August 30, 1944 in Warren, Ohio, Christian L. & Dorothea M. (Quinby) Dietz Jr., were blessed with the birth of their son, Thomas.
Tom married the love of his life, Sharyn Kay Pierce, on September 21, 1968 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage together.
He had lived in Lordstown all his life working at General Motors as an autoworker for over 31 and 1/2 years, retiring in 1998. He also worked for Lordstown Village on the Board of Public Affairs and maintained the mowing of the lawns. He was a proud Fireman for Lordstown for over 45 years retiring in 2008. Tom was a member of the Old Erie Masonic Lodge, the VFW #9278 in Lordstown and the Lordstown Christian Church. He was also a member of the US Army serving during Viet Nam.
Tom loved old cars, he enjoyed working on his 1934 Plymouth and 1968 Dodge Dart.
Memories of Tom will be carried on by his loving family his wife Sharyn Kay Dietz of Lordstown; his daughter DeDe Plate of Columbus; his son Thomas Dietz Jr. of Zanesville; a brother Christian L. Dietz III of Canfield; 7 grandchildren Katie Plate, Abbie Plate, Bradley Dietz, Jonathan Dietz, Kyler Dietz, Alexis & (JD) Jameson, & Riley Dietz; and a great-grandson Jett Jameson.
Tom is preceeded in death by his parents and one sister Julie Estlack.
Calling hours will be held at the James Funeral Home on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 5 to 7PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 11AM. Tom will be laid to rest at the Lordstown Cemetery.
