Thomas (Tom) Alan Reed, age 69, of Newton Falls passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at Albany Health Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born on April 26, 1954, the son of the late Lemual T. and Mary D. (Yaratch) Reed.
A lifelong resident, Tom graduated from LaBrae High School in 1972, the school he named from winning a contest to determine the school's name. He then attended Cincinnati Milacron to learn skills related to robotics, a trade he used for working as a robotics maintenance technician for Glunt Industries in Lordstown before retiring.
Tom loved boating; his favorite boat was his sailboat. He served on the Trumbull Boat Club Board for many years and was a master open water PADI diver. He would dive to boat wrecks and coral reefs for pirate adventures. He had an immense talent for art and loved to paint and do woodcrafts. Tom also enjoyed camping and had a spot at Leisure Lake in Ravenna for over 20 years. In addition, he was licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his own ultralight aircraft.
Surviving Tom is his son, Jason (Jennifer) Reed of Copperas Cove, Texas, his daughter Tiffany (Matt) Polzin of Albany, Indiana; his brothers Lemuel James (Donna) Reed of Cocoa, Florida and Brian Reed of Newton Falls; his sisters, Nancy (David) Sharps and Sandy Grimm both of Southington; six grandchildren Raegan, Trinity, Tristan, Gwendalyn, Kylah and Maci and two great grandchildren, Darcy and Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother; Gary Reed.
According to Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2pm at James Funeral Home, 8 East Broad Street, Newton Falls, Ohio 44444.
